Vinyasa Krama: The Energetics of Sequencing with Rod Stryker A Pure Yoga“ Master Training (PYMT) and Practice Intensive Sequencing is the foundation for the art of teaching and the mastery of practice. The science of sequencing can enable us to address the needs of the body, the mind, and the subtle domains – the paths to the sacred – in a single practice. Described in the tradition as Vinyasa Krama, sequencing involves two things: knowing one, which techniques to use and two, the order to place them in to reach the desired outcome of our (or our students’) practice. Consolidating the sublime wisdoms of Tantra, Ayurveda, and Yoga with the principles of Vinyasa Krama practice can become alchemy – an intelligent dynamic that reveals our hidden gold. The aim of this five-day practice and Teacher Training Intensive is to explore, through direct experience, the potential of practice and the reach of teaching. Designed to enrich dedicated practitioners, aspiring teachers, or those already teaching, the emphasis of the program is on the energetic principles of sequencing. The training consists of two parts: open morning practices and afternoon theory sessions. Morning practices are open to all dedicated practitioners (participation in the training is not required) and include Asana, Pranayama, and meditation that highlight five distinct outcomes of a specifically focused practice. For those doing the training (open to all interested students – teachers and non-teachers alike), afternoon sessions will deepen our exploration through additional practices, lectures, and Q & A sessions. The principles we cover can be applied to enlighten our own practice or that of our students'. Some of these include: The physical/bio-mechanic considerations of safe and affective sequencing The energetic effect of all major Asanas Orchestrating the arc of a class at the levels of mind, body, and energy Heightening the accessibility to more challenging poses The Asanas and Pranayama practices that support particular meditation techniques Practice and the Gunas (the three attributes of the natural world) Sequencing for your Ayurvedic type Practice and its affect on the three Essences Designing a practice to suit your life and aspirations The art of Efficiency and Effectiveness "There are many various methods, depending on individual experience, of the path to Samadhi, told by the great ones.” — Hatha Yoga Pradipika, 4:63 ABOUT PURE YOGA MASTER TRAINING (PYMT): Master teacher and guide, Yogiraj Rod Stryker has developed the PYMT from his 25 years of discipleship and practice.
