We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga poses help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely, During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body are benefited, and a few of the measurable results of deep relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure, serum triglycerides and blood sugar levels in the blood, the increase of the "good cholesterol" levels, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination, the reduction of muscle tension, insomnia and generalized fatigue.
In this 25 hour Training we will learn the art and skill of teaching Restorative yoga. All aspects of the subject will be covered, including the physiology of relaxation, as well as the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the subject, including special poses for menstruation, pregnancy and menopause, and how to sequence and teach a class in Restorative yoga. At this time, more than 2000 teachers have been trained in Restorative yoga in the United States, Japan, Canada and England.
In this One Day Immersion Moving From the Inner Body ~Therapeutic Restorative Yoga for Experienced Students and Teachers. We often focus on practicing our poses from the spine, arms and legs. But the ancient teachings of yoga also dealt with the opening and quieting the organs of the body, like the heart, kidneys and liver that are found in the “kunda” or vessel holding these organs. During this all day immersion we will focus on specific poses that create a healthy balance for the organs in the chest and abdomen, as well as explore the theories of why they work. All types of poses will be studied, including backbends, inversions, forward bends and twists.
We will also spend some time on specific therapeutic applications that will be immediately applicable to ourselves and to our students. We will begin each day with a focus intention and then go directly to practicing Active poses. In the second session of the day, we will focus on a Quiet Practice – Restorative yoga, meditation and pranayama. Throughout this all day immersion we will return our awareness to stabilizing and balancing from the inside, as well as focusing on how to teach others to do so.
Requirements The 25 hour training is open to all teachers and serious students, However if you wish to become certified as a Relax and Renew® Trainer, you must fulfill the following: attend all sessions (no exceptions), complete a project to be submitted by mail approximately six weeks after the workshop, including a required additional $125 check for a lifetime listing on Judith’s web site exclusively promoting Restorative yoga teachers (www.restorativeyogateachers.com).
