This workshop is for anyone and everyone who has experienced anxiety, depression and long term stress.
We'll be using the ancient techniques of Classical Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama (breathing) to reduce the impact to our minds and bodies, restoring balance to our hormones and bodily function. This workshop is appropriate for you, even if you've never done yoga!
We send a special invitation to widows / widowers, caregivers, teachers, therapists, parents, nurses, and everyone else who is or has suffered from long-term stress and/or anxiety.
~The science of Yoga & Ayurveda helps us understand and manage our emotions, our feelings of helplessness, our lethargy and grouchiness. It's not your fault - your mind and body have been put into a state of imbalance that can be corrected with the right techniques.
When someone undergoes a stressful event, the amygdala (an area of the brain that contributes to emotional processing) sends a distress signal to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus acts as the control center for the brain and sends signals to the nervous system, altering the involuntary processes of breathing, regulating blood pressure, heartbeat, and the dilation or constriction of key blood vessels and bronchioles of the lungs.
According to the American Psychological Association, 25% of Americans are experiencing high levels of stress (rating their stress level as 8 or more on a 10-point scale), while another 50% report moderate levels of stress (a score of 4 to 7). And that's under 'normal' circumstances!!!
When we're under stress for extended periods of time, we 'get stuck' in this situation and our sympathetic nervous system can't slow down. Eventually we become fatigued and hormonally imbalanced.
If you've experienced stress, trauma and prolonged anxiety in your life, you most likely suffer from this ongoing condition. We know how to change that, so you can live a more relaxed and fulfilled life!!

About Charles Gaby:
Charles is a yoga instructor and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience counseling individuals, couples and families. Currently he sees clients in Dallas and Fort Worth. He is the creator of Roots of Change, a ten week group process for uncovering emotional dynamics that keep us stuck.
About Kirsten Burch:
Early 2012, Kirsten lost her Step-Father to complications from emphysema - he had been in and out of the hospital for years.
In the fall of 2012, she lost her God-Father to pneumonia.
Four short months later, she stayed at her Father's bedside for a week, to help him die as peacefully as possible from lung cancer on Valentine's Day.
Two months after burying her Father, her husband had a seizure while at work - the first sign that he had developed in-operable, in-curable brain cancer (GBM). After spending 6 months in and out of the hospital, the diagnosis was confirmed by brain surgery.
She retired from her corporate job as Director of Finance & Operations to become a full time caregiver, while supporting her grieving family.
She sought psychotherapeutic counseling and Yoga Therapy to help function through his illness. She called it 'Therapy Thursday". The ongoing practices of Hatha, Tantra & Ayurveda helped her manage the prolonged anxiety and stress.
20 months after her husband's first seizures, he passed away in her arms.
Oddly enough, she wasn't done suffering yet...she lost 5 more loved ones to sudden or long-term illness in under 7 months.
Kirsten Joy is now a member of The Modern Widow's Club of Dallas, a Teacher at SYNC Yoga & Wellbeing, and is the new owner of Living Yoga Dallas. She continues her studies of Yoga & Meditation with Rod Stryker (ParaYoga), Pandit Rajmani Tigunait (Himalayan Institute) and Arpita Shah (Om Yoga Journey / Ayurveda) to continue her personal growth and share the comforts of the ancient secrets with others who may be undergoing stress, or are looking for personal or spiritual evolution.
