Childhood gave me a deep fascination for nature, but my practical upbringing suggested a life in business, so I graduated Magna Cum Laude from UTD with a focus on Environmental Science and Business Management. I started my professional career as a medical assistant / office nurse, ran business operations for a large hospice in Missouri, and came back to Dallas for a career in finance & sales operations in the software industry during the booming late '90s.
At some point around 2011 my eldest beloveds began to die from emphesyma, lung cancer, and pneumonia, then my husband developed brain cancer. I quit my corporate job to become his caregiver. Counseling and Yoga Therapy was my tool to stay functional. A short while after my husband passed away, I began spending more time studying the science and philosophy behind why the yoga was working so well for me; I was healing, and regaining mental capacity steadily.
I began studying ParaYoga with Rod Stryker, and was initiated into the tradition October 2014. I continue my studies in ParaYoga, and the science of Tantra at the Himalayan Institute. I gained my Ayurveda Lifestyle Counselor certification in 2015 with Arpita Shah of Om Yoga Journey and have certifications in Yoga4Cancer, and Yoga for Anxiety & Depression.
I teach traditional yoga and ayurveda, meditation, and Yoga Nidra. For privates or private group classes, please contact me directly at kirsten@livingyogadallas.com or Kirsten@PraniLife.com
