The Seasons provide an excellent portal for gaining or deepening understanding of Ayurveda and how to cope with these seasonal influences.

Ayurveda actually acknowledges six seasons which include Monsoon and a second Autumn. But for our climate, it is sufficient to view the seasons according to the Dosha which rules them:

  • Summer: PITTA
  • Autumn / Early Winter: VATA
  • Late Winter / Spring: KAPHA

You will find plenty of tips on the web for managing the heat of summer or the drying nature of fall; plentiful lists of do’s and don’ts, what to eat and what to avoid. This workshop will give you the “why’s” behind the “what’s” in an experiential format, so you can make intuitive choices based on wisdom, rather than relying on lists.

While always best to catch the season in advance, our first workshop will occur at the tail end of Summer and address the question of how to deal with accumulation of heat in the body before it causes problems for us when the drying Autumn season arrives.

Interestingly, this crucial time of year has a major impact on whether or not we suffer allergies in the Springtime. Who knew?

So come discover simple ways to support the body with Ayurveda and leave the summer heat behind!

About this Presenter:

Kathleen Lohr, LMT, became enchanted with Ayurveda over thirty years ago when a fellow herbalist returned from Nepal and described the exotic form of healthcare practiced there. She immediately became a lifelong student of the world’s original and most expansive holistic health system, never imagining this passion was laying the foundation for her life’s calling. After enjoying careers as an industrial photographer and in the corporate world, Kathleen became licensed in massage in order to prepare for a scholarship in the Sri Sri Ayurveda Six-Month Residential Internship at the Arte de Vivre Ashram in Quebec, Canada. During this excellent and intensive program, she perfected the Ayurvedic Bodywork treatments, Marma Chikitsa and Pancha Karma techniques that form the basis of her work.
