As a songwriter, Jamie’s musical journey began as a small child singing and writing songs with her two older brothers. In her early teens she was introduced to many sacred texts, including the Bhagavad Gita. This new found, old felt passion, sparked a fire in her heart and left her with a deep knowing that Yoga was the next step on her path. While the thought of Yoga seems light and lofty, Jamie soon found that dedication to the practice had cracked her wide open! So she dove into the wounds, peeled back the layers and shortly after took her first Yoga teacher training.

I began practicing yoga in 2000. In 2009, with my teachers an encouragement, I took a one day certification class that barely touched on all there is to know about yoga. Following that class, I attended an immersion weekend with Rod Stryker, Yoga Rupa in 2011. My eyes opened to yoga. In 2012 I became a 200 hour certified Regristered Yoga Alliance instructor. I am also a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.

200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Yoga Alliance
Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Certification, Himalayan Institute

I started practicing yoga for the physical benefits, but I found myself more and more drawn to the spiritual and philosophical aspects of yoga. Yoga became something I did for myself every day. Hungry for more, I dove right in to my 200 hour teacher training at Lotus Yoga to attain the knowledge and a better understanding of yoga as a whole. My love for yoga grew exponentially from there. I have studied with Rod Stryker, Judith Hanson Lasater, Aaron Price, Tara Kristof, and Jennifer Hensley.

200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification with Yoga Alliance

Prenatal Yoga with Tara Kristof

Yoga for Anxiety & Depression with Aaron Price

Relax & Renew with Judith Hanson Lasater

My love for Yoga started back when I was a senior in college. I’d heard about how powerful Yoga was and decided to give it a shot. It was then that I knew that I’d found the perfect medication! I started sleeping better, my back and shoulder pain lessened with each day of practice, and I was approaching life with more intention by being grounded, compassionate, and calm. From that moment on, Yoga became a constant factor in my life, and it only took a few teacher training courses before I knew what I was intended to do – Teach Yoga. I have been teaching yoga since 2008.

I spent many years searching for a fitness routine that would keep me motivated to exercise on a regular basis: aerobics, running, walking; nothing held my interest for more than a couple of months. Boredom would set in and I would give up. All of that changed when I stepped into my first yoga class in 2006. The simple desire to incorporate fitness into my life evolved into something much bigger than I ever imagined. My yoga practice helps me stay physically fit, while keeping me grounded and balanced off the mat as well.

I began my journey after many years of swimming, working out at the gym, and running, which was taking it's toll on my body.  I began a daily practice and found ny body and mind free, at ease, and connected. I soon felt deeply in my heart that I wanted to teach and found my yoga home and completed teacher training at Blue Anjou, where I am now the director and owner of the studio and Blue Anjou Teacher Training Programs.  I am passionate about teaching and love to share with my students a vibrant and uplifting experience that is also nurturing, warm, and compassionate.

Certifications:

E-RYT 200, RYT 500, certified in Prenatal, YogaFit Kids, Reiki. Owner and Director of Blue Anjou Yoga and Meditation Center and Teacher Training, and Young Athletes Yoga.

I began my yoga journey in the summer of 2002. After several years of pounding weights and not stretching out before or after a workout a friend suggested I try a yoga class to stretch out. I soon realized that yoga was more than just stretching; it is about quieting the mind and body and bringing a balance into life. I left the gym scene to deepen my practice in a yoga studio. In 2008, I became an assistant helping students take their practice a little further during a class. After 2 years of assisting I knew it was time for me to take my practice to the next level, teaching.
