I teach yoga because I want to make everyday a source of healing. It is my love and my passion. Mind, body and spirit come together for me in the energies of movement and the calm of breath of yoga. I began teaching yoga in 2003 after practicing for several years. In all my teaching, I focus on deep tissue release, joint mobility, and strength. Yoga can help anyone heal the aches of their body and spirit. It can also help athletes of all ages improve their performance and avoid or help heal injuries.

Nancy Nurmi

I started my career in the health/wellness field as a personal trainer for over 10 years while obtaining my Bachelor's degree of Science emphasizing Kinesiology from TWU. I was drawn to the therapeutic aspects of personal training and started working in Rehabilitation. In 2007, I started doing yoga after a back injury and was introduced to yoga therapy and thus the passion for yoga began. I tried many styles of yoga and enjoyed them but I still felt like they were missing something until I tried Svaroopa® yoga in 2012.

My mission is simply to be a guide to help you open a door to your own joy, awareness and expansion. And my teaching style is an exploratory and complementary mix of yin & yang - reinforcing a balance of strength & softness, of power & surrender, of challenge & acceptance. Always acknowledging that the physical practice is only one small part of the wisdom that is yoga. The mat is a beautiful microcosmic school of life and everybody's experience is going to be different. It's a blessing to be part of the journey.
